Suspend Your Disbelief: Time to Start Believing in Yourself

Are you full of self-doubt? You're not alone. Many of us struggle with believing in ourselves, yet it's crucial to start every change from a place of total belief. And if you can't find that belief just yet, don't worry—you can fake it until you make it!

Remembering Your Awesomeness

Think back to a time when you felt on top of the world, when everything clicked, and you believed you could do anything. It's easy to forget these moments because our brains tend to focus on failures and embarrassments. This is due to our brain's need to filter out excessive input to avoid overwhelm, often leading us to dwell on negative experiences.

The Pleasure-Pain Principle

We're all driven by two primary needs: to avoid pain and to gain pleasure. Tony Robbins highlights that we often do more to avoid pain than to seek pleasure. This means our brains might shy away from actions that could lead to significant rewards if there's a risk of pain involved. This fear can stop us from pursuing opportunities, like asking someone out or applying for a better job, because the potential pain of rejection or failure seems too great.

Feel the Force, Luke!

To overcome limiting beliefs, we need to unlearn them immediately. If you think you're not good enough, that's what you'll become. Instead, give your brain something positive to focus on. Convince yourself with utter conviction that you can achieve your goals. Your brain doesn't want to make you a liar, so if you believe in yourself, you'll start to see changes.

Suspend Your Disbelief

Just like when you watch a movie and suspend disbelief to enjoy the story, you can apply this skill to real-life scenarios. If you find yourself thinking negatively, suspend those thoughts for a while. Imagine you're the hero of your own story, ready to take on any challenge.

Cultivate Your Garden

Believing in yourself is challenging because our beliefs are influenced by those around us. Be mindful of what you allow your mind to cultivate. Replace doubts with positive thoughts and memories. Define the person you want to become and act as if you are already that person. This shift in focus will boost your confidence and help you make the changes you need.

Take Action

While in this empowered state, take action. Whether it's asking for a raise or expressing your feelings to someone special, do it with passion. If you're not ready for big steps, start small and build on your successes. Write down moments of self-confidence and review them whenever you feel anxious. This evidence will help convince your brain that you can achieve what you set out to do.

Words of Wisdom

If you believe in magic, you'll have a magical life. So, take a bite out of life and start believing in yourself today!
